In the rather diverse picture of musical art from the last third of the twentieth century to the first quarter of the twenty-first century, an important place is occupied by tendencies provoked by historically informed performance practice (HIPP). Having emerged at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, it determined a change in the cultural paradigm, which meant: public interest in the musical culture of the twelfth to the early twenty-first centuries and changes in repertoire policy; the restoration of early instruments and the production of their modern analogues; the emergence of specialized ensembles and orchestras and, accordingly, scholarly and methodological works devoted to the specificity of Baroque performance. It is also impossible to ignore the factor of the rapid development of the art of countertenors, which made possible a new stage existence for many operatic works of the eighteenth century. In this context, the work of the Italian composer Nicola Antonio Porpora (1686–1768) deserves special attention; his contribution to the formation of Western European vocal art can hardly be overestimated. N. Porpora entered history as the author of numerous opera seria and as one of the most renowned vocal teachers, among whose pupils were the celebrated Farinelli (1705–1782), Caffarelli (1710-1783), and Antonio Uberti (1719–1783).
